Brandi S. Sanders is a singer, preacher, and teacher who has a passion for ministry to women. Born and raised in Chicago, Brandi has always served her community. She taught elementary school in Chicago for 5 years, has served several churches, and has worked as chaplain in multiple hospitals. Brandi currently serves as the Manager of Global Personnel for Serve Globally (ask her for the backstory), one of the mission priorities of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She works with global personnel all over the world as they prepare to return to the States, as they work towards credentialing, and most recently, as they navigate this global pandemic. As a young adult, Brandi discovered a passion for preaching God’s word. Brandi is an advocate for faith and forgiveness. Many people are familiar with Brandi’s singing gifts–she has been singing for as long as she can remember! Brandi is currently exploring other gifts and finding new hobbies. Near the end of 2020, she joined a virtual workout group and now appreciates being super sweaty at the end of a good workout. Brandi and her husband Leslie have 2 daughters, Sarabi and Rhyan.

Deeply rooted starts one week from today! We are busy putting the final touches on all the things. We can’t wait to see you there! We have been praying that the Lord would nudge women who need to be here, especially those feeling lonely, discouraged, stuck, or lost. Also, women who are experiencing a Holy Spirit kick inside and want to keep the flame lit.
We’re so excited about the speaker lineup, workshops, and our first-ever bookstore! We have a number of sponsors this year, including Paraclete Press, Loyola Press, InterVarsity Press, Grrr Records, Jesus People USA, Wilson Abbey, and Everybody’s Coffee! (If you haven’t attended before, EC is connected to Wilson Abbey! We also serve their signature roast:)
Every time we put on Deeply Rooted (this is our 5th year AND 9th Gathering) we feel moments of discouragement and defeat. We’ve had speaker cancellations, low registration, and budget challenges, as well as personal setbacks that have brought us low.
We always remind ourselves that even if nobody shows we’ll just see it as a retreat for a small group with fantastic facilitators:) The truth is we just love to bring women together for celebration, worship, food, and fellowship and if we can be challenged and inspired along the way, even better!
Please don’t let finances be the reason you don’t come.
We’ve made it accessible for every budget (even NO budget!) You can stay overnight with us for free. You can come for the whole thing or just Friday or Saturday. Or for a few hours. You can pay at the door. We are totally flexible and want to make it work for whatever stage of life you’re in! Nursing babies and girls 13 and up are welcome!
Cultural Intelligence (CQ): How knowing your values helps you deepen intimacy in diverse friendships: Sandra Van Opstal
The Soul Tells a Story Writing Workshop (2 Sessions): Vinita Hampton Wright
Racial Righteousness: Christine Moolo & Tiana Coleman
The Power of One Faithful Woman: Wendi Kaiser
Hospitality 101: It’s Beyond Teas and Dinner Parties, Y’all: Rebekah Byrd
We’re going to have some fabulous giveaways, including books, coffee, and CDs! Check out what our sponsors have given us for YOU!
Please pray for us as we gather, that the Lord would be powerfully present, and the Holy Spirit would be moving among us.
We’d love for you to join us.
Tammy & Joy
Did you know that 3 bands are represented in our worship team? Hilde Bialach plays cello and sings for The Crossing, Brach Siemens plays guitar in The Unfortunate, Ed Bialach plays drums for Glenn Kaiser Band and The Unfortunate, and Glenn Kaiser is, of course, the vocalist and guitarist for GKB. Here is a little taste of what you’re going to experience tomorrow.
The men of Deeply Rooted. We couldn’t throw this party without their support and service. We are so grateful for David and Mila Baumgartner, Ed Bialach, Brach Siemens, Juan Carlos Garzon, and Glenn Kaiser. #bestofmen #getdeeplyrooted
More views of @935wilsonabbey waiting to be filled by expectant women this Saturday, and @colleensacelt and @greeneyedlense working on the hand-drawn banners. It’s getting real, people. #deeplyrootedchicago #getdeeplyrooted
Our designers are hard at work on the banners for our Saturday night gathering. We are so thankful for talented, gifted, skilled visionaries who can take some ideas and images and create an EXPERIENCE. It’s going to be beautiful and memorable. #getdeeplyrooted #deeplyrootedchicago
Join us for worship, poetry, and story. We all need to be reminded how God pursues, protects, and provides for us. 9 days from today!
