Sandra Van Opstal had an event come up for her new book. She couldn’t miss it and tried to make her schedule fit us in but it didn’t work and had to step down. Hopefully we will see her at a future Deeply Rooted! As I (Tammy) thought of a replacement I went through our list of potential speakers and one name jumped out at me. June Felix. We met at a Rooted Chicago (no relation) brunch last year. I can’t remember if she spoke or not, but my friend Courtney told me about her, insisted I needed to meet her.

After the brunch I went up to Juni and introduced myself. After some small talk we got deeper and we shared some hard stuff with each other and I just knew I needed this woman to be my friend. We exchanged numbers and we kept up with each other a bit.
