How can I connect with other attendees?
You can use our Facebook page to connect with other attendees.
When should I arrive? What time will it end?
On Friday night doors open at 6:30 and we will start at 7:00, ending at 9:30. On Saturday doors open at 9:0 a.m. for mingling and coffee, worship begins at 9:30 a.m. and the event ends at 3:00 p.m.
Who is speaking?
Jasmine Sims is our spoken-word poet, and Juni Felix, Sandra Van Opstal and Vinita Hampton Wright are speaking.
Where can I eat lunch?
If you have not bought a ticket for the catered lunch, there are options for you in the neighborhood. Wilson Abbey is connected to Everybody’s Coffee, which has sandwiches, avocado toast, pastries, and more. Close by is Wabi Sabi rotary sushi which is a cool experience. A neighborhood legend, Uptown Pizza and BBQ is a block away. What it lacks in ambiance it makes up for with an amazing coffee shake. There’s a Japanese ramen restaurant, Futatsuki Ramen, within walking distance. A McDonald’s and Sonic are within walking distance. 3 blocks away is the new 3 Squares Diner, a modern twist on the classic American diner.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
We will have gluten and dairy-free options at our dessert reception and our November catering chef is aware of your needs and will accommodate you.
Is overnight accommodation available?
It is! If you don’t mind summer-camp, bunk-bed style living, we have room for you! When you register, purchase a free overnight ticket. Bring your own bedding and towels.
Are children welcome?
Nursing babies and girls 13 and up are welcome, but unfortunately we can’t have children attend since we record each speaker.
What should I wear?
It’s a very casual environment, so please dress comfortably. Dress in layers to accommodate temperature changes. We will be meeting in one building with an elevator so there is not much walking, unless you will be eating lunch offsite. Our local restaurants are within a few blocks’ walking distance.
Where do I park?
Metered street parking is limited and surrounding streets are permit only after 6 p.m. There is more free parking a few blocks away on Marine Drive. For local attendees, if possible, plan to take public transportation. The Wilson Red Line stop is three blocks away and there are bus stops close by as well.
Most sessions will be on the first floor, but two workshop tracks will be on the 3rd floor. There is an elevator.
