If you’re coming from outside the city, consider staying overnight with us! Attendees stay in our dorm facilities which are on the first floor of an apartment building located directly behind our main building. We have cozy, bunk-bed, church- retreat type lodging. There is bunk space for 27 in 4 separate rooms, with three bathrooms containing showers. There is a living room, as well as an enclosed porch. Choose the housing option during registration and bring a sleeping bag or your own bedding.Deeply Rooted attendees will be the only people staying in the dorm. You’re welcome to eat breakfast on Saturday with the Jesus People community or eat at Everybody’s Coffee at Wilson Abbey.
Who is speaking?
Ciera Smith is our spoken-word poet, Kathy Khang, Kimberly Penrod Pelletier, and Ramelia Williams are speaking. Click here to read more about our speakers.
Where can I eat lunch?
If you have not bought a ticket for the catered lunch, there are options for you in the neighborhood. Wilson Abbey is connected to Everybody’s Coffee, which has grab and go sandwiches, quiche, pastries, and more, handmade by Baker Miller, which mills stone-ground, organic, non-GMO grains locally sourced in the Midwest. Close by is Wabi Sabi Rotary sushi which is a cool experience.A neighborhood legend, Uptown Pizza and BBQ is a block away. What it lacks in ambiance it makes up for with an amazing coffee shake. There’s a Japanese ramen restaurant, Futatsuki Ramen, within walking distance. A McDonald’s and Sonic are within walking distance. Two blocks away is Palla’s Grill, a Greek diner. We highly recommend the charbroiled Greek chicken.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
We will have gluten and dairy-free options at our dessert reception and our November catering chef is aware of your needs and will accommodate you.
Are children welcome?
Nursing babies and girls 13 and up are welcome, but unfortunately we can’t have children attend since we record each speaker.
What should I bring?
Basically everything you would need for a sleepover. We provide hot showers and mattresses, but you will need sleeping bags, pillows, toiletries, towels, Bibles/journals, etc.
What should I wear?
It’s a very casual environment, so please dress comfortably. Dress in layers to accommodate temperature changes. We will be meeting in one building with an elevator so there is not much walking, unless you will be eating lunch offsite. Our local restaurants are within a few blocks’ walking distance.
Where do I park?
Street parking is limited and surrounding streets are permit only. There is a parking garage nearby at Weiss Hospital. Public parking rates for the parking garage are as follows: $8 for 1 to 3 hours; $10 for 3 to 5 hours; and $12 for 5 to 24 hours. Park only on the 3rd or 4th level.
Walking from parking garage:Walk south on N Clarendon Ave toward W Eastwood Ave.
Turn right onto W Wilson Ave, walk two blocks, Wilson Abbey will be on the left.
Most sessions will be on the first floor, but two workshop tracks will be on the 3rd floor. There is an elevator.
